Have you ever heard of the saying "Open bags mean saddlebags?" Lol well I definitely think it's true. You would definitely go over your 1serving if you are just digging into a bag instead of having it already portioned into a ziplock bag or food container. Here are a bunch of tips that will help you make over your kitchen so that it's easier and better for you for every day.
Tool Checklist
-Make sure you have a great quality knife. You will be using it a lot to cut up fruits, veggies, chicken etc.
-Vegetable Peeler
-Measuring Cups (You will be using 1/2 cup and 1 cup the most)
-Scale (It's great to have one to weigh your fish and chicken. Eating more ounces can pan out to 10-15 extra lbs a year)
-Calorie Handbook
-Portable Containers
-Snack Size Baggies
Tips
-Replace your staple foods with healthier food choices. Most people LOVE cheese so instead of having a brick of cheese start buying string cheese. You can find them made of skim milk and they are already portioned and quick to grab. Try using spray butter, it is 0 calories! Other great ideas is spray dressings (1 cal per spray) instead of the regular higher in fat dressings or you can buy already pre separated egg whites. Tuna packets are great to keep in your purse for a quick snack too!
-Find a quick and easy source of protein to fuel your body
-Have readily available healthier snack alternatives
-Use low-fat or low-sugar alternatives
-Wheatberry bread is a low-carb high-fiber option
-Replace high-sugar cereal with low-calorie high-fiber cereal
-Use pre-packaged and portion controlled snacks
-Use brown rice and whole wheat pastas as healthier alternatives. (try uncle ben's ready rice)
